We are pleased to announce the promotion of Meagan Malm to Partner. Meagan becomes the fourth partner at our firm, joining CEO and Managing Director Paul D’Amato and Managing Partners Dale Grogan and Jody Vanderwel.
Since joining MCN in 2020, Meagan has taken on increasing responsibility across the organization’s investment activities and operations. Her promotion reflects both the depth of her contributions to the firm and her growing leadership within Michigan’s venture capital ecosystem.
Over the past several years, Meagan has played a key role in MCN’s investment platform, contributing to deal sourcing, diligence, and portfolio support. She has participated in dozens of investment closings and has guided capital into early-stage companies both in Michigan and across the US. In addition to her investment work, Meagan has been involved in several of MCN’s major strategic initiatives, including the formation of the firm’s Small Business Investment Company Critical Technologies (SBICCT) fund.
Beyond investment, Meagan has worked to strengthen internal operations at the firm. As Director of MCN
Operations, she has played a key role in scaling the firm’s team and has led the hiring of 6 new staff members over the last two years. She also serves as Director of the Grand Angels investing group, working closely with founders and MCN’s angel investor community to support strong deal flow and investment activity.
“During her time at MCN, Meagan has helped to lead some of our largest fund activities, delivering solid portfolio performances for our member-investors. She has tremendous investment instincts and possesses excellent organizational skills. We’re excited to welcome her to the partnership,” said Paul D’Amato, CEO and Managing Director of MCN.
Meagan is actively involved in the broader venture and startup ecosystem. She contributes to industry leadership through her service on the Michigan Venture Capital Association Board of Directors, where she currently serves as Vice Chair.
Prior to joining MCN, Meagan graduated from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business with a concentration in Strategy and Entrepreneurial Studies. Upon graduation, she was selected as the sole recipient of the Raoul Wallenberg Fellowship, a two-year program that supported her independent research project in Tanzania studying the use of mobile micro-financial tools. She has also been recognized with several academic and professional honors, including the University of Michigan Hopwood Award, Ross School of Business Carson Scholar recognition, and selection as a Crain’s Grand Rapids Business 40 Under 40 honoree.
We’re thrilled to have Meagan as our new Partner and look forward to seeing what’s next. Please join us in congratulating Meagan.
